Our Story

Phoenix 3097 is a peer support group for first responders, created in memory of our dear friend and colleague, Jennifer Ellis (nee Giordano), who tragically took her own life in November 2014. “Phoenix” was Jennifer’s nickname, and 3097 was her paramedic badge number—together, they symbolize her strength, courage, and lasting impact on those who knew her.

Jennifer’s passing brought a profound awareness to us all: too many first responders suffer in silence, carrying the weight of trauma, stress, and loss while pretending to be okay. Phoenix 3097 was born from this truth—with the hope of breaking that silence, honoring Jennifer’s memory, and preventing future tragedies.

Our mission is simple yet vital: to provide a safe, compassionate space where first responders can connect, share, and support one another. Through peer support, we strive to remind every responder that they are not alone, and that reaching out for help is a sign of strength—not weakness.

At Phoenix 3097, we carry Jennifer’s legacy forward by fostering resilience, hope, and healing in the lives of those who dedicate themselves to serving others.
